Regulatory Monitor

Purpose:
 

Under general supervision, this position conducts in-depth reviews and investigations, and monitors program and regulatory performance of a specialized industry to ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal laws, statutes, and regulations.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Implements and facilitates compliance programs for a variety of industries.
  2. Verifies certification and application information related to various processes including consumer protection and telecommunications permitting processes.
  3. Assists in the development of community engagement plans.
  4. Collects specific information to conduct compliance and trend analysis.
  5. Works with consumers, consumer groups, and stakeholders to resolve complaints.
  6. Enforces compliance discrepancies and/or recommends solutions.
  7. Prepares cases for hearings and trials by judicial bodies (Municipal Court) which may include providing witness testimony.
  8. Assists in preparation and management of consumer financial grants.
  9. Reviews and analyzes Local, State, and Federal law related to the industry being regulated.
  10. Prepares reports and presentations to stakeholders, City executive staff, and City Council.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices used in regulation compliance.
  • Knowledge of evaluation techniques.
  • Skill in leading an organization to ensure compliance.
  • Skill in determining needs, gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to provide accurate information.
  • Skill in effective oral and/or written communication to clearly convey and receive information and ideas and public speaking experience.
  • Skill in resolving problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.
  • Skill in developing effective procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with the public.
  • Skill in identifying and conceptualizing complex issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Accounting, Business, or Economics, plus two (2) years of experience in compliance and/or industry regulations.
  • Experience related to the job may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
Physical Requirements:
 

Light. Tasks performed with lightweight materials or using a force equal to lifting up to twenty (20) pounds.
