CES Technology and Planning Director

Purpose:
 

Under nominal direction, this job is responsible for overseeing strategic planning initiatives impacting the business of the Customer Energy Solution operations.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Assesses, designs, develops, and recommends short- and long-range planning goals to meet the needs of CES.
  2. Pursues industry-proven programs aligned with the strategic and tactical objectives set forth by the executive staff to enhance CES’s programs and initiatives.
  3. Provides executive summary data and analysis on complex CES matters to address long-range plans and assess the benefits and risk, renewable energy requirements resourcing, and methods to meet program targets.
  4. Works collaboratively with senior leadership, electric utility industry professionals, and community stakeholders to foster an understanding of changes impacting CES’s renewable and energy efficiency programs.
  5. Provides insight and perspectives by striking a balance between costs efficiencies, program effectiveness, and environmental impacts; and complying with regulatory requirements while supporting CES’s portfolio of products and services.
  6. Researches, analyzes, and makes recommendations for enhancing existing or new industry specific emerging technologies, systems, or processes designed to advance CES’s strategic plan.
  7. Leads cross-functional project teams to promote engage and direct activities supporting both AE’s reliability and renewable programs.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

May be responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of the electric utility business.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state and federal laws associated with electric utility renewable and energy efficiency programs.
  • Knowledge of managerial and supervisory techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of budget methods and systems.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in handling conflict and mediating diverse perspectives.
  • Ability to manage conceptual work and provide expert recommendations on complex subject matter.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve irregular events.
  • Ability to foster relationships and working collaboratively to resolve issues. 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business, Engineering, Planning, Public Administration, or in a field related to the job, plus five (5) years of experience related to electric utility, including two (2) years of experience which are in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Graduation with a Master’s Ddgree may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
