Purpose: | |||
Under the direction the City Manager’s Office, this position will serve for up to twelve months. During this time the fellow will perform rotational assignments in the City Manager's Office, the Budget Office, and a selected department. The Management Fellow will work directly with the City Manager, Assistant City Managers, and Department Directors on substantial projects during the one year tenure that will benefit City of Austin and provide quality experience in a municipal environment to the management fellow. |

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: | |||
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. 1. Develops project work plans, manages projects, and conducts periodic assessments 2. Identifies, investigates, and analyzes key issues; assists in the development of comprehensive options to resolve them. 4. Identifies, collects, researches, and analyzes data. 5. Makes recommendations to project teams and recommends organizational change utilizing appropriate talent. 6. Develops and improves models and methodologies for departments. 8. Communicates project and program information to all levels of the organization. |

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: | |||
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. • Knowledge of business strategies, objectives, planning, development and management processes and process improvement • Knowledge of city practices, policies and procedures • Knowledge of research methodologies, cost/benefit analysis, statistics and financial models • Skill in providing internal consulting services • Skill in project management methods • Skill in using computers and related software • Skill in oral and written communications • Skill in planning and organizing • Ability to interpret policies, and guidelines as they relate to municipal government • Ability to exercise discretion in confidential matters • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public.

Minimum Qualifications: | |||
Satisfactory completion of all courses for a Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field before the start date of the position. |
