Hydrologist

Purpose:
 

Under general supervision and using advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures, plan, install, maintain, and operate environmental monitoring stations. Responsible for projects of limited scope and complexity.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Uses standard methods and protocols to make stream discharge measurements.
2. Configures, installs and maintains standard sensing, recording and communications equipment.
3. Calibrates maintains and repairs stormwater monitoring equipment.
4. Preforms quality assurance of field data and assures compliance with technical standards.
5. Performs field water quality analyses.
6. Collects, processes and prepares water quality samples for laboratory analyses.
7. Uses remote sensing techniques (GPS/GIS) to locate stormwater infrastructure in compliance with state and federal permits.
8. Assists with the preparation graphs, tables, maps and data summaries for publication.

Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Environmental Science, Life Science, Natural or related field, plus one (1) year of relevant experience.
