Training Specialist Senior

Purpose:
 
Leads and coordinates training activities to include development of curriculum and delivery of job specific training to meet departmental initiatives.
 
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Designs and performs needs assessments to analyze and identify short-term and long-term organizational training needs.
  2. Surveys various training techniques, materials, and commercial offerings to select the most appropriate process for the delivery of training.
  3. Researches commercial training offerings and determines feasibility of use.
  4. Develops written training materials, visual aids, and reference materials, including course curriculums.
  5. Develops and administers assessments of staff skills for use in developing training strategies and curriculum, and effectiveness of delivery.
  6. Delivers targeted, audience-appropriate instructor-led training sessions.
  7. Coordinates student and facility schedules for delivery of training, and maintains and prepares appropriate records of participation.
  8. Performs preproduction, production, and postproduction work on computer- and video-training materials that use computer and streaming audio-visual technologies for on-demand use.
  9. Analyzes laws, codes, and policies, and consults with subject matter experts to design and develop curriculum related to trainees' needs.
  10. Conducts research or surveys to determine the effectiveness of training provided.

  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of instructional systems design methods.
  • Knowledge of City practice, policy, and procedures.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to facilitate and deliver training.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to lead and train others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus three (3) years of experience in a technical training environment.
  • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
 
Licenses and Certifications Required:
 

Licensing for specific disciplines may be required.
