Purpose: |

Under general direction, manages and supervises the daily activities, operations, and personnel in support of the purchasing and warehouse/inventory delivery systems for the City of Austin. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Develops short and long range plans, programs, and personnel that provide administrative, managerial support, fiscal management, program planning, and evaluation.
- Determines goals, objectives, and resource requirements for activities within the division.
- Initiates, coordinates and enforces security measures, program and operational policies and procedures. Communicates and coordinates division activities with other divisions or other departments.
- Performs general managerial functions such as risk management, contract and materials management, management and program evaluation, and provide technical and material support to functional divisions in the department.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local warehousing and material handling by reviewing legislation, enforcing requirements, and advising management of corrective actions.
- Prepares the annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Evaluates bid proposals and recommends selection to ensure cost effectiveness and compliance with specifications, standards, etc.,
- Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Maintains inventory levels by reviewing data recorded in tracking systems, retrieving data, designing reports and directing corrective actions occur to manage the inventory levels.
- Maintains historical record keeping by tracing historical records of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records.
- Ensures compliance with safety guidelines, reporting discrepancies, and recommending corrective action to ensure safety in the warehouse.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business, Public Administration, or in a field related to the job, plus five (5) years in materials management, plus two (2) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
- Experience may substitute for the education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
