Culture & Arts Education Supervisor

Purpose:
 

With general direction, supervises employees and coordinate the activities of a group within a site or facility.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1. Plans, develops, organizes, evaluates, manages, and monitors the facility's education and cultural programs and activities.
2. Develops, coordinates and conducts programs and education curricula, schedules and activities, etc.
3. Oversees the promotion and marketing of the programs being offered.
4. Manages and oversees the safe operation, maintenance and usage of the facility, collections, grounds, and equipment.
5. Recommends purchases or deaccessions.
6. Assists with the budget.
7. Identifies needs for program changes and/or new programs. 
8. Solicits funds and other resources for programs and facilities.
9. Represents the City and the Department in meetings.
10. Investigates and responds to complaints and resolves conflicts.
11. Prepares memos, correspondence, reports, grants and proposals and monitors their compliance.

Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Knowledge of cultural arts and education programs.
Knowledge of City practice, policy and procedures.
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances.
Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in using computers and related software.
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the Arts or other related field, plus two (2) years of experience developing and implementing arts or cultural education programs.

Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
