Dispatcher I

Purpose:
  Under general supervision, perform duties related to receiving and transmitting information and dispatching crews and equipment.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Answers telephone, routing calls as appropriate. Answers citizen questions and provide assistance. Operates 2-way radio dispatcher/pager.
2. Dispatches service and trouble calls to field service personnel.
3. Loans rental pool vehicles to authorized employees, etc.
4 Answers questions concerning division/section operations.
5. Monitors radio and take action as needed.
6. Files papers, materials, etc.
7. Enters data into computer concerning dispatch times, personnel, actions, etc.
8. Records data on appropriate form/log, etc. Compiles data/information for reports, cost estimates, etc.
9. Mails materials.
10. Coordinates activities with other divisions, departments, etc.

  None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus one (1) year of dispatching or using two-way communication equipment or related experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
