Purpose: |
|
Under general supervision, directs the activities of electrical maintenance personnel, and or crews responsible for performing electrical maintenance and remodel work on City buildings, facilities, and grounds. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Inspects electrical repair and installation construction for compliance with codes, specifications, and safety ordinances.
- Obtains required permits for scheduled electrical work.
- Assists in developing operating budget for division.
- Develops and revise operating procedures.
- Reads profiles and blueprints.
- Inspects buildings and equipment for needed electrical repairs and maintenance.

- Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for dismissal.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of local ordinances and building codes.
- Knowledge of city permitting process.
- Knowledge of general characteristics of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and procedures used in electrical building.
- Knowledge of property safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to work being performed.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws.
- Knowledge of city practice, policy and procedures.
- Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- Skill in using computers and related software applications.
- Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
- Skill in planning and organizing.
- Ability to evaluate needs for routine and/or emergency electrical maintenance and repairs

- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years of experience in electrical building and construction work, two (2) years of which were in a lead/supervisory capacity.
|
Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
- Must have or be able to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment, a valid Texas driver's license
- Must have, or be able to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment, a State of Texas Master Electrician's license

Physical Requirements: |
|
- Tasks performed with lightweight materials or using a force equal to lifting up to twenty (20) pounds.
