Events & Exhibitor Services Manager

Purpose:
  Under general direction; manage all program areas related to event planning and event coordination and exhibitor/utility services and serve as management liaison for public assembly/event facility.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Manages the day to day activities of event and exhibitor staff.
2. Oversees compliance with building and safety codes.
4. Oversees client, exhibitor and contractor conflict and challenge resolution.
5. Acts as liaison with other City of Austin Departments.
6. Develops, implements, monitors and maintains division procedures and business goals.
7. Maintains marketplace competitiveness.
8. Reviews, communicates and resolves event needs/concerns/inquiries.
9. Develops, monitors, and maintains Department budget
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
  Responsible for a full range of supervisory activities including employee selection, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for dismissal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of event coordination and planning.
Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service and personal service.
Knowledge of other aspects of industry services, such as, audio visual services, food and beverage services, decorating services.
Knowledge of event logistics for public assembly/event facilities.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws.
Knowledge of city practice, policy and procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in using computers and related software.
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Ability to understand unique business requirements, relating to events for a variety of industries.
Ability to interpret event requirements and logistics for public assembly/event facilities.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public
Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job plus four (4) years of relevant work experience in a convention center, public assembly/event facility or other related facility/industry; two (2) years of which were in a supervisory capacity.

Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
