Facility Services Manager

Purpose:
 

Under general direction, manage; supervise; and coordinate the activities and operations of the division/staff involved in providing facility, security, building and grounds, and/or emergency services.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Manages department staff to include facility, security, building and grounds, and/or emergency services.
  2. Participates in planning sessions to determine business needs.
  3. Develops, implements, and coordinates crowd control management and parking plans policies and procedures.
  4. Develops, implements, and coordinates department/facility security, agencies, and/or building and grounds staff.
  5. Contracts for and supervises/manages outside vendor services as required.
  6. Provides appropriate billing to Event Coordinators. Surveys and identifies any loss or damage to facility.
  7. Answers visitor/client questions, and provides assistance.
  8. Enforces department facility safety and operational policies and procedures. Resolves conflicts and difficult situations related to employees, visitors, clients, contractors, etc.
  9. Compiles data and develops reports for management. Develops policies and procedures relating to division activities.
  10. Develops and maintains budget for division/section budget.
  11. Evaluates and analyzes facility, security, building and grounds, and/or emergency services programs; and recommends improvements or policy changes.
  12. Develops, controls, and monitors annual budgets for facility, security, building and grounds, and/or emergency services programs.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods.
  • Knowledge of City practice, policy, and procedures.
  • Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with City employees and the public.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to train others.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field, plus three (3) years of experience managing facilities and facilities staff or related work experience, including two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
