Ground Transportation Enforcement Officer

Purpose:
  Under direction of the Manager of Transportation Regulation, inspect and permit taxis, limousines, and other for hire vehicles in order to ensure consistently high-quality transportation.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Inspects vehicles for hire (taxis, limousines, etc.) to ensure compliance with the regulations described in the City Code.
2. Identifies unlicensed services operating in the City.
3. Enforces vehicles for hire regulations as described in the City Code.
4. Investigates and respond to reports of violations.
5. Implements appropriate corrective action for observed violations.
6. Processes applications for City Chauffeur's licenses.
7. Monitors, tracks, and evaluates the outsourced inspection program.
8. Maintains data and record files.
9. Prepares reports on investigations or inspections and actions taken.
10. Answer questions from the public and provide assistance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of vehicles and tools, including their repair and maintenance.
Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws.
Knowledge of City practice policy and procedures.
Knowledge of inspection techniques and processes.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Ability to conduct tests and inspections of vehicles.
Ability to troubleshooting and use diagnostic equipment.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent and five (5) years related experience
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
