Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Communicates division, project and program information to management and others as needed.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls division activities.
- Develops short/long range plans.
- Develops and monitors section budget.
- Assigns job duties and monitors task completion.
- Develops, revises, and ensures compliance with safety and other standard operating procedures of the organization.
- Ensures accommodations are identified and implemented within the organization to establish and maintain compliance with the American with Disabilities Act.
- Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects, programs, and plans.
- Monitors contracts and contractors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Attends meetings representing division.
- Coordinates division activities with outside contractors.
- Investigates and responds to citizen complaints.
- Reviews and approves personnel actions recommended by supervisors, or when appropriate make recommendations for approval by higher management.
- Ensures the identification and delivery of all appropriate safety training.
- Prepares and reviews reports as part of the process of monitoring and communicating division performance results.
- Recommends major purchases and expenditures, developing specifications for product, price, and services to be received.
- Performs the duties of subordinate supervisors when necessary.

- Knowledge of or the ability to learn the provisions of the Texas vehicle codes relating to their proper operation on public streets and highways.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn proper safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to work performed in the organization.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn applicable equipment used in the areas managed.
- Knowledge of and skill in supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of contract language.
- Knowledge of budgeting methods and systems.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or other related field plus four (4) years experience in a related field, two (2) of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years

Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
- If required to occasionally operate vehicles, must possess the appropriate Texas Operator's and/or Commercial Driver's License for those vehicles
