Technical Trainer

Purpose:
 
Coordinates technical training activities and delivery of job specific training to meet departmental initiatives.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Performs department wide needs assessments to identify and analyze technical training needs. 
2. Coordinates and provides advice to managers regarding the technical training needs of the department
3. Surveys various training techniques to select the most appropriate process for the delivery and cost and     determines if environment is conducive to the delivery of job specific, or on-the-job training 
4. Schedules, coordinates, tracks, and delivers training modules, workshops, and facilitation techniques to selected audiences.
5. Evaluates the effectiveness of training modules, workshops, etc. and makes changes as needed to improve future results.
6. Plans, designs, implements, and evaluates plans and activities for assigned projects and programs..

  May lead and train others. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of basic training and learning principles.
Knowledge of instructional systems design methods.
Knowledge of city practice, policy and procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication. .
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Skill in using computers and related software.
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Ability to facilitate and delivering training.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to lead and train others.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:
 
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus two (2) years of experience in a technical training environment.

Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

  None.
