Training Instructor

Purpose:
  Under general direction, responsible for developing, delivering and assessing departmental and/or city wide training programs.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Develops and delivers training modules and workshops to selected audiences.
2. Confers with management to gain knowledge of work situation requiring training for employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations and/or technologies.
3. Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods.
4. Selects or develops teaching aids, such as training handbooks or materials, demonstration models, visual aides, or computer tutorials.
5. Conducts and schedules training sessions.
6. Evaluates the effectiveness of training modules, workshops, etc and make changes.
7. Participates in identifying program needs and obtaining technical data.
8. Maintains training records
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
  None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of basic training and learning principles.
Knowledge of instructional systems design methods.
Knowledge of city practice, policy and procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Skill in using computers and related software.
Ability to deliver training.
Ability to develop and maintain current knowledge of training practices.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job plus two (2) years experience in a related field.

Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years

  None.
