Vehicle Coordinator

Purpose:
  Under general direction or working independently, coordinates the fleet operation between department vehicle services and Fleet Services, planning vehicle availability and overseeing maintenance schedules and related services.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Assists in minimizing downtime on equipment by ensuring that vehicle repairs are performed in a timely manner.
2. Audits and tracks repairs to ensure that Fleet Services charges are appropriate.
3. Assists in the development of budget and equipment specifications, and monitor operating costs.
4. Coordinates the development of competitive bid proposals and assist in the recommendation of vehicle selections that will ensure cost effectiveness and compliance with specifications of industry standards.
5. Assists with the vehicle purchasing process.
6. Organizes, develops and evaluates long and short-term projects.
7. Plans and executes evaluation processes to compile and present statistical or other analytical data to management.
8. Develops, composes and/or presents special reports, correspondence, graphs and charts.
9. Develops, monitors, and evaluates project procedures for effectiveness and accomplishment of the stated goals.
10. Works with various staff of other City departments to resolve issues and implement effective tools.

  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of proper fleet practices, procedures and regulations applicable to the work being performed.
Knowledge of the provisions of Texas vehicle codes relating to operation of trucks on public streets and highways.
Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws.
Knowledge of city practice, policy and procedures.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in using computers and related software.
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Ability to quickly recognize and analyze irregular events.
Ability to maintaining compliance with fleet practices, rules and regulations.
Ability to lead others.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business, Planning, Fleet Management, or any other related field plus two (2) years of lead experience in fleet management or project management.

Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years..
