Airport Field Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose:
 

Under limited supervision, this position directs the activities of professional maintenance personnel and/or crews responsible for performing maintenance of the airport campus and systems, ensuring safe and secure operations.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Inspects building and infrastructure for compliance with codes, specifications, and safety ordinances.
  2. Oversees staff responsible for the operation and maintenance of systems and buildings.
  3. Oversees and monitors sub-contractors including contract management.
  4. Assists in developing the operating budget for the division.
  5. Develops and revises operating procedures.
  6. Trains personnel in performance of job tasks.
  7. Reads profiles and blueprints. Pulls permits.
  8. Tracks staff licensing and certifications ensuring they remain active.
  9. Assists in the maintenance of parts inventory.
  10. Facilitates and oversees the random drug testing of staff.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of applicable airport procedure and policies.
  • Knowledge of the preparation of equipment or material specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of construction of various types of structures and the use of heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of small engines and the methods and equipment used in the repair and servicing.
  • Knowledge of contract language and engineering drawing symbols.
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of professional licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of airport systems and technology.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to implement effective safety and training programs.
  • Ability to check and prepare cost and construction estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years of experience in a field related to the job, including two (2) years of experience which were in a lead/supervisory capacity.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
 

Applicable licenses and/or certifications may be required. 

Physical Requirements:
 

Light. Tasks performed with lightweight materials or using a force equal to lifting up to twenty (20) pounds.
