Airport Facility Supervisor

Purpose:
 

Under general direction, this position supervises personnel responsible for coordinating work and leading staff that provide facility maintenance, security, emergency services, general and detailed cleaning and disinfecting services, and moving and arranging services for the airport terminal and campus.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Supervises Facility Services staff to include facility maintenance, security, emergency services, cleaning, and moving and arranging services.
  2. Provides information to Facility Services staff about airport operations to ensure airport and customers’ needs are met.
  3. Performs administrative duties and responsibilities including preparing correspondence; distributing information to airport tenants; and documenting inspections and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and materials.
  4. Checks inventory to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained, and supplies and equipment are ordered as needed.
  5. Provides customer service by responding to requests and assisting City employees, airport tenants, and airport customers. Interacts with airport tenants, Aviation divisions, City departments, and the general public to accomplish assignments and projects, coordinate events, and resolve issues.
  6. Develops division policies, procedures, and inspection programs.
  7. Assists in the development and monitoring of the division’s budget.
  8. Stays abreast of technology and techniques related to facility services and aviation industries.
  9. Enforces department’s safety, security, and operational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of airport janitorial processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations/mandates; and City, departmental, State, and Local rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of FAA/TSA Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) regulations/requirements.
  • Knowledge of Airline Baggage Hygiene procedures.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques methods.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others.
  • Skill in identifying suspicious and unusual activities.
  • Skill in using equipment and vehicles in airport services.
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to pass and maintain TSA/SIDA Security requirements.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment or machinery, vehicle, and utilize computer software.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience related to janitorial services, including one (1) year of experience which was in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Completion of (30) semester college hours may substitute for one (1) year of the required work experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
 

Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
