IT Enterprise Architect Senior

Purpose:
 

With limited supervision, guides City departments requiring business systems or related architectural analysis through the enterprise architecture process. Contributes in the planning of the overall organization Information Technology (IT) Strategy. Develops, maintains, and leverages the department enterprise architecture practice to ensure optimal selection and use of technology to support business objectives.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Implement enterprise architecture practices and principles.
  2. Leads and coordinates the pursuit of technical business information needs, governing principles, and solution architecture viewpoints.
  3. Works with business partners and IT to develop strategic technology roadmaps.
  4. Develops and oversees architecture implementation including documentation of an enterprise architecture framework.
  5. Leads enterprise architecture team to identify and analyze business needs for future innovative technology, develops solution architecture requirements, and determines potential
  6. impact of technology solution.
  7. Ensures governance structure and compliance activities are in place to allow multi-stakeholder participation and agreement in finding solutions.
  8. Analyzes current business and IT environments and recommends solutions for improvement.
  9. Leads and facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide solution decision-making.
  10. Socializes the enterprise architecture practice within the department through collaboration, communication, and training across all business units.
  11. Develops long term partnerships with department business units and vendors to facilitate collaboration in the development strategic business plans.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local laws, ordinances, and policies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of architecture methodologies (e.g., SABSA, Zachman, TOGAF) and modeling languages (such as UML and ArchiMate).
  • Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and architectural language models.
  • Knowledge of basic graphical modeling approaches.
  • Skill in developing IT strategies.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, and managing workload.
  • Skill in facilitating collaboration with customers.
  • Skill in analyzing complex business and IT systems and data.
  • Skill in effectively consulting and negotiating multiple projects.
  • Skill in communicating clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to translate business needs into enterprise architect requirements.
  • Ability to collect and analyze user IT needs.
  • Ability to understand, advocate, and support business and IT strategies.
  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of enterprise architect alternatives.
  • Ability to develop reports, presentations, schedules, and other relevant materials.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and objectives.

  • Ability to lead and mentor less-experienced architects.

Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Information/Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field, plus six (6) years of experience in an architecture-related field, including two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
