Enterprise Risk Analyst

Purpose:
 

Under minimal direction, this position provides analytical and management support to all aspects of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs for a department.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Develops, promotes, and improves the department risk management framework, policies, practices, tools, and reports; and assists in the coordination of a department-wide risk management program that assesses all aspects of business risk to the organization.
  2. Identifies, analyzes, mitigates, and monitors risks associated with the health and well-being of an organization, its assets, and human capital.
  3. Develops controls; and researches, designs, implements, and evaluates risk mitigation activities and solutions to ensure compliance with established risk management policies, procedures, and processes.
  4. Consults and advises business units on identifying, evaluating, measuring, tracking, understanding, managing, and communicating significant business risks;, and on technical solutions and mitigation activities.
  5. Designs and develops dashboards, scorecards, and reports to facilitate operational and strategic decision making, and to assist in early identification of risk trends.
  6. Gathers and analyzes organizational risk information to support necessary inputs into, and deliverables related to, the risk management oversight committee meetings and related reporting.
  7. Develops models for automation of the risk management processes and functions using various advanced software. Applies new technology to improve risk management processes and reporting systems. Provides support in evaluating and selecting risk identification and analysis software.
  8. Provides consulting to business units and the public on insurance coverage reviews, interpretations of coverage, property, liability exposures, and causes of loss.
  9. Participates in insurance risk assessments and coverage reviews and participates in discussions with business units, brokers, and carriers to evaluate findings.
  10. Develops, delivers, and evaluates ERM training programs. Continuously assesses necessary improvements in the program content to ensure ongoing effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of risk management techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management and internal control standards (e.g. ISO 31000, COSO ERM or GRC frameworks).
  • Knowledge of commercial property or casualty insurance policies.
  • Knowledge of internal business processes and industry practices.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances governing commercial insurance or risk management techniques.
  • Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in analyzing financial and statistical reports.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Skill in clearly communicating complex information both written and verbally, including reports and presentations.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain current knowledge of Risk Management Programs.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to lead and train others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with City employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the job, plus three (3) years of related experience.
  • Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the position may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of experience.
  • CRMP, CRMA, CRM, ARM, CPA, CPCU, CERA, or CFA may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
